This book, in which I’ve co-authored a chapter alongside other scholarship recipients, is a report on two university extension programs carried out by the Center for Study and Research on Women (NEPEM) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the “Vale do Jequitinhonha Women’s Forum” and the “Women Building Citizenship: initiatives for women’s economic empowerment and gender equality in Minas Gerais” projects. We talk about our experiences working with women in Vale do Jequitinhonha and Belo Horizonte’s metropolitan area, holding meetings to discuss women’s rights and offering workshops to help them develop political, business, and communications skills in order to achieve economic autonomy. The book, organized by professor Marlise Matos, NEPEM’s coordinator, is available for download at the UFMG’s publishing house website.
